Pete Hanchette
I was born in Albany, New York. I grew up in Connecticut, Tennessee, Sweden, North Carolina, Japan, and Washington State. I have always enjoyed making things. I was really into ceramics and pottery in my college days, then I took an elective woodworking course and was hooked.

I sold my kiln and bought my first table saw. I worked in a furniture factory for a while, then did carpentry and construction, and then went on to work for a cabinet maker.
It wasn’t long until I opened my own cabinet shop.
Inspiration
I am inspired by patterns, and by nature, and by the works of others. Mostly though, I am inspired by the wood itself. I enjoy looking at pieces of wood and imagining what it could become.
